Use Phone Cards for All Your International Calling
An international call is a phone call which is made between two countries across the political and geographical boundaries and can be made anywhere in the world. The international calling system is a part of the overall telephone network and therefore is very similar to the calling system which is applied to the calls which are made within the country. Therefore, when the system of using calling cards was introduced for making local calls and was accepted successfully, the same system was then extended to facilitate international calls as well.
An international calling card is a type of phone card which is used to make international calls and has evolved into one of the most widely used method of calling because it is cheaper than the other foreign phone companies. This card enables an individual to make calls to different countries around the world at reasonable rates thus saving a lot of expenditure which is normally associated with international calling. The method of usage of an international calling card is similar to that of the local pre paid calling card in the sense that the card is activated after purchase and the pin revealed on the backside of the card is dialed every time a call is to be made. However, there is one point of difference between the two categories which is that an international calling card is subject to applied charges as well as a connection fee. The applied charges are levied every time a call is made from a pay phone and a connection fee is charged on the card every time a call is dialed.
There are a number of advantages in using a phone card for international calling and some are listed as follows:
- It is considered to be one of the most convenient ways to keep in touch while traveling.
- Since it is easy to use and understand it offers a comfortable method of communication.
- It is based on reasonable rates and therefore falls out to be cheaper than using other options of international calling.
- Although different countries have different rates and systems of phone cards, most of the times phone cards are universally acceptable and applicable unless specified otherwise.
- It enables one to keep track of communication details since an international calling card keeps records of where the call was made and how much time was spent on it.
However, there are also certain precautions which should be kept in mind while using phone cards for international calling and some of them are as follows:
- While selecting an international calling card the buyer should check the international options offered by the card so that the card works in all the countries through which one is expected to travel.
- The card user should be aware of the cost of calling from a particular country to the particular country.
- Many international telecom companies have mutual agreements and this knowledge could be beneficial to the user.
- The user should be aware of the monthly fees, the surcharge per call as well as the additional charges which would be levied if the call is made from the pay phone.
