The caller would purchase the card for its face value. These do not have any hidden cost and is free from taxes, service charges etc. There are no connectivity charges. The calling charges are determined on per minute basis and in many cases it is as low as 10 cents.
The calling companies have many types of calling charges which are designed to suit the various sections of population or callers. For example those who are frequent callers are offered special rates for calling particular country or region. Those who are not frequent callers are also offered few benefits like carry over of the balance can be carried over to another card purchased from the same company etc.
With every call made, the credit balance gets reduced. Not to worry, the caller can get the card recharged by buying calling time from the service provider.
