Use calling cards to call even from a payphone
Calling from a payphone using calling cards is as simple as calling from an ordinary phone. First of all, a person should know how to choose the best calling card for their phone. As always, quality is more important than quantity. The cheapest calling cards may be in vain. Its lifetime ends within few months or even days. Choose the phone card wisely. Buying them at reliable shops is the cleverest thing. The calling cards have maintenance fee which allows tracing of phone calls. This maintenance fee will be taken from the balance of your card, but your rates might actually be lower than on a no-maintenance-fee card. For long term use, cards with no maintenance fee are recommended, however. With this one, your phone card balance will be the same if you don’t call at all as there is no maintenance fee for it. This is recommended most often.
Using toll free access numbers will cost more than expected. So one must see whether the card has local and toll free access numbers. If you’re given a local access number, it’s better to use that one, as it will give you lower overall rates on your long-distance calls.
There are different calling cards available at the stores. These cards differ in size, shape, name, design, some options and validity period. A fee is taken once every two weeks as a maintenance fee (if your card has a maintenance fee). In most ads for cards, you can see the rates per minute. To make your calling card last longer, here are some ideas for you:
- If you are making short and more frequent calls – a card with no per-call surcharges(also known as connection fee) will do.
- If you are making long calls, less often – get a card with low per minute rates and low per-call charges will definitely make the money in your pocket last for long.
The daily fees for your calling cards would range from 3 cents to 50 cents depending upon the time you use your cards. Weekly from 12 cents to $1 and it might cost about 50 cents to $2 per month approximately.
If your mobile phone’s battery if dead, you might want to consider using pay phones, as your calling cards will work with these too!
